Bismillah. Alhamdulillah.
For d past 2 weeks of Ramadhan, Ummi holds the responsibility to cook for iftar and to conquer the kitchen. By the time yours truly reaches home from work, Ummi has settled almost 80% of the cooking.
So what yours truly do? Haha. Sounds so useless.
Yours truly will prepare the drinks, pinggan mangkuk cawan, serve the nasi and hidang the lauk. My role is so significant kan? Haha.
As far as I could recall, hanya 2 kali I cooked ie nasi lemak sambal udang dan sambal sardin. Hahaha. Itu pun sebab Ummi dah buntu gila nak masak lauk apa dan yang nasi lemak tu sebab I feel like dying for not eating my favourite food after almost 2 weeks of fasting. Poyo gila.
Ummi jenis masak awal juga. Kadang I call Ummi while I am at work just to ask what is she doing and what she plans to cook? Usually her answer will be Ummi dah masak blablabla. Nak request lauk pun tak sempat. Hahaha.
Nasi lemak hari tu pun kaw tim baik punya sebab dah request few days tak dilayan. Ummi kata: "kau sorang je nak makan, gi beli kat bazaar". I went to the bazaar and bought nasi lemak rm1.20.
Tak sedap. Tak menghilangkan keinginan.
So the next few days we kaw tim, Ummi tolong blend bawang semua, I will cook the sambal when I reach home. Bingo! We are the best dapur-mate during that day! Hehe
I actually like to cook but when Ummi conquer the dapur, I don't dare to kacau much sebab nanti kena 'tarbiyyah' tak memasal. Only upon request macam "ten ikan tu tolong goreng" or "nanti kau buatkan sambal sotong" or apa sajalah yang dia agak confident anak dia ni buat, dia akan suruh.
Hari hari biasa memang Ummi macam 'kekwat' macam "kau tepi sikitlah!" Hahaha. But not during sesi makan-makan besar atau hari raya. Upon anyone's request untuk sesi makan-makan, she will only say 'yes' if "kalau paten ada boleh masak Ummi okay kalau tak pilih tarikh lain". Significant juga kewujudan ku di dapur kan? Haha
Untuk hari raya biasanya kitorang berdua akan bahagikan 'port folio'. Gituuu.
Dah panjangnya melalut. Aiseh.
Sebenarnya nak cerita hari ni yours truly macam teringin nak makan spagetti. Ummi being melayu tulen tak berapa minat nak makan spagetti. I am bored of nasi too (chey!). So when I proposed my idea, Ummi said: "kau masaklah spagetti tu."
Hey memang nak masak sendiri pun tau! Haha. Ummi hari ni punyalah takde idea nak masak apa, Ummi cuma goreng ikan, buat sambal belacan dan goreng sayur. No fancy lauk. Dah 18 ramadhan pun.
So teringat pula pada spagetti masakan my colleague kat opis dulu. Power gila jejaka tu masak. Orang kata masak spagetti senang. I agree. Sebab guna prego je like what I always did. Haha. Tapi impressively that colleague of mine dia tak guan prego.
So alang alang memasak, kita trylah tak menggunakan prego. Kita pun apa lagi, minta tunjuk ajar sifu.
Dalam hal memasak cemni, tak salah kita menurunkan ego meminta lelaki bagi resipi. Haha. Walaupun by right, it should be the ladies to teach the guys. But hello, no harm asking for guidance okay! Hehe.
This colleague of mine punya cooking touch is excellent (at least to me) to the extent that kalau dia buat dadih pun macam sedap gila walhal kalau kita buat sendiri rasa biasa je. Haha. Lepas tu kari ikan penang style dia has always been the looking-forward free food to us when we were in the same team before.
So my conversations with him goes like this:
So siapa kata lelaki tak pandai memasak?
At least my colleague proves that men can cook.
Dan paling penting, good bye prego. I now can prepare spagetti without you, prego.
I now know how oregano smells. Hahaha
Maklumlah asik makan budu belacan, oregano tu apa pun tak tahu.
Jemput datang rumah beraya makan spagetti nanti okay? Hahaha.
